Buck Huston on the ABC Television Network's "The City"
Philip Brown plays Buck Huston, whose roguish past continues to come back and haunt him no matter how hard he tries to put it behind him. Buck has moved to New York to go into business with Jacob Johnson and open a bar in SoHo. But Buck knows it's more than that -- it's also his last chance for a life with stability and meaning.
Philip Brown's entry into show business happened by accident. His father had moved the family from Yakima, Washington to Southern California to pursue an acting career, and invited six-year-old Philip along on an audition. His father didn't get the part -- but little Philip landed a job and got an agent that day. As a child actor, he appeared in over 250 national commercials and for three years, beginning at age 10, co-starred as Billy Martin on "The Doris Day Show."
At North Hollywood High, Philip excelled at most sports and was one of the youngest semi-professional soccer players to be drafted in the country. He played for the California Surf and after his graduation from high school, the World Cup Glasgow Rangers expressed interest in having him join their team. Philip opted instead to pursue his acting career and went on to star with Debra Winger and Charles Durning in the television movie, "A Special Kind of Love." His first film was "Fitzwilly," with Dick Van Dyke and Barbara Feldon.
For three years, Philip spent his time in Namibia and Mozambique starring as an action-adventure hero in feature films which took him from the sands of the Kalahari Desert to the diamond mines of Luderitz. On the small screen, Philip's recurring roles on television series include ABC's "The Colbys," "Sisters," "Search for Tomorrow" and "General Hospital." He has done episodic work on such shows as "L.A. Law," "Murder, She Wrote," "Crazy Like a Fox," "Step By Step" and "Matlock"; and the television movies, "Stranger at Jefferson High" and "Champions: A Love Story." He starred for two seasons as the good-guy-turned-murderer Brian Johnston on "Knots Landing." His face is also familiar to millions of TV viewers who recognize him from the many national commercials in which he currently appears.
Philip participates in many celebrity charity sporting events supporting various causes, particularly Special Olympics. An avid sportsman, he enjoys mountain bike riding, spear fishing, jogging, golfing, tennis and skiing. When he is not working or playing sports, Philip loves to dote on his two Staffordshire terriers, Cassie and Zelda.
